The 2016 Texas Senior Corps Association Conference will take place June 13 - 16, 2016 at the Marriott Westchase Hotel in Houston. This will be the first full TSCA conference since 2013, and we plan to do it up BIG!
This event will feature workshops on a variety of topics, including:
Communicating your message effectively
Report from CNCS State Program Director Terry Gunnell
How to operate a disaster volunteer resource center (Full day w/ certification)
Cluster Conference learnings panel
Dealing with difficult people
Accessing community resources for volunteers and clients
NSCHC & Texas Law
Tools (esp. social media) for telling the Senior Corps story
Two lunches, two breakfasts, a dinner and a couple of snack breaks are all included. There may also be an evening "fun" activity, so stay tuned for more info. The conference early registration fee is $150.00 and is good through April 30. After April 30, the fee goes up to $200. The GSA room rate for the hotel is $131 per night, and there is a 17% tax rate. PayPal users make certain that you read this paragraph. Once you have landed on the PayPal site, before you finalize payment by clicking on the Pay button, you need to look for a line located above the Pay button that says, "Special Instructions" in bold typeface. Just under "Special Instructions," it will say, "List name of member being registered." That is a message to you, telling you that you need to list the name of the person you are registering. To do so, click on the little underlined link that says, "Add." When you click on it, a box will open that again reminds you to "List name of member being registered." Just click inside the box and type the name of the member for which you are paying the registration fee. It is very important that you take this step. Otherwise we cannot tell whose registration you are paying. And don't forget that the registration form must still be submitted in the mail or via fax or email, even if you are paying by PayPal. An emailed electronic version will get to the treasurer more quickly.
The deadline for conference registration is 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2016.Payment will be accepted after that date, but registration must be made by the May 20 deadline, so that meal arrangements may be finalized with the hotel.
