(12/07/2011) RSVP volunteer, Ruth Hanson, went through the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training in earlier this year. Since then she has been involved in Disaster Simulation exercises, Brazos Valley Child Abduction response Team training and a Wilderness Search and Rescue class. Here's a bit about her latest accomplishment in her own words.
"I am 71 years old, that is true, however I have been challenged to become a Ham radio operator. Last Saturday I took the exam and on the first try passed the exam. I am sharing. I am bragging. NOW is the next challenge. . . knowing and understanding how to use my transceiver radio to communicate and I am going to learn that! Seventy One is only a number not a cutoff date for trying new things!"
Ruth is an inspiration to all.
